Who is Eligible to Pay Qurbani?

Qurbani (Udhiyah) is the sacrifice of an animal which Muslims perform, at the occasion of Eid ul Adha, to show gratitude towards Allah SWT and to provide for the poor. This holy deed is a tribute to the readiness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham, peace be upon him) to eliminate his son Ismail (Ishmael, may Allah be with him), as per the order of Allah. Importance of Sacrificing for Qurbani

The performance of qurbani is not just an act of worship; rather it is the Sunnah and way our forefather Ibrahim (A.S.A) offered his sacrifice to Allah Subahan Tala. It was also reported that a man said to the Prophet, “My mother died suddenly and she did not make a will regarding her beasts: how shall I treat them?” The Prophet replied, “Make an estimate of their value and benefit your brothers (or sisters) with it’ [Bukhari & Muslim]. Adding to this, qurbani teaches compassion, humbleness and gratefulness. So Muslims all are requested to perform this act, they have done qurbani in name of sacrifice in the way of Allah, and sacrificing a animal our Self to remind us blessings of Allah on Us, and sharing our resources also that with others specifically poor and needy people.

Distribution of Meat

In fact, an important perspective of Qurbani is the sharing of meat. Best to split the meat into thirds as follows:

One-third by the person performing the Qurbani and their family.

One-third to be spent on the poor and needy.

This allocation speaks of the social justice that qurbani is supposed to bring. Sharing meat is a sign of sharing Eid al-Adha happiness with the needy.
