Sadqa-e-Jaan & Sadqa-e-Daf-e-Bala
What Is Sadqa-e-Jaan / Sadqa-e-Daf-e-Bala?
In Islamic Fiqh, Sadqa-e-Jaan and Sadqa-e-Daf-e-Bala reflect the belief that charity protects life and helps remove unseen hardships. Sadqa-e-Jaan is given as gratitude for life, recovery from illness, or safety after danger, while Sadqa-e-Daf-e-Bala is offered to seek Allah's protection from future difficulties.
What the Hadith Says
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Charity extinguishes sins just as water extinguishes fire" (Tirmidhi), and also encouraged believers to treat illness through charity (Bayhaqi).
